Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 4, 2026

The short version: the app collects nothing. There is no server, no account, no telemetry and no network connection of any kind. Everything it reads stays on your Mac. This site counts visits without cookies and without identifying anyone, only so we know where people arrive from.

01Who we are

Downloads Inbox is a macOS app built by David Santos, an individual developer based in Brazil. For anything privacy related, write to [email protected].

02What the app reads

To do its job, the app reads information macOS already stores alongside each file in your Downloads folder:

The app never opens or reads the contents of your files. It looks at what surrounds a file, not at what is inside it.

03What leaves your Mac

Nothing.

The app does not declare the network access entitlement. That is not a promise in a document: it is a property of the program, verifiable by anyone who inspects the app, and Apple checks it during App Store review.

There is no server to send data to, no account to create, no sign-in, no install identifier and no analytics inside the app.

04What the app stores

The app keeps one local file with the decisions you made about each item (snoozed, handled, ignored). It lives in ~/Library/Application Support/DownloadsInbox/ and holds nothing but file paths and the state you chose.

That file never leaves your Mac. Deleting the folder erases the app's entire history and affects nothing else.

05Cookies and tracking

The app uses no cookies, because it is not a website and never reaches the internet.

This site counts visits using Cloudflare Web Analytics. It works without cookies and without browser fingerprinting: it records the page opened, the site that sent you here, the country and the browser type, and it never links one visit to another or follows you across other sites.

It answers one question: where people arrive from. We build no profiles, feed no mailing list from it, and sell or share that data with nobody.

The distinction that matters: the app has no telemetry at all and does not even request network permission. What is measured here is a page visit in your browser, nowhere near your files.

06Sharing with third parties

There is no sharing, because there is no collection. None of your data is transmitted, sold, licensed or processed by anyone else.

If you buy the app on the Mac App Store, the purchase happens entirely inside Apple. We never receive or access your payment details, and Apple's own privacy policy governs that transaction.

07Your rights

Privacy laws such as the Brazilian LGPD and the European GDPR give you the right to access, correct, port and delete your personal data. Here those rights are met directly: since we hold no database about you, there is nothing on our side to look up, correct, export or erase.

The data the app uses is yours, stays with you, and you control it through Finder and macOS permissions.

08macOS permissions

On first launch macOS will ask you to authorise access to the Downloads folder. That prompt comes from the system, not from us, and you can revoke it at any time in System Settings, under Privacy & Security.

The app never requests Full Disk Access and does not work outside the Downloads folder.

09Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and it collects no data from anyone at any age.

10Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it and the previous version stays in the project's public repository history. Any change that introduced data collection would be announced before taking effect, and would remain optional.
