For macOS 14 or later

A third of your folder is a mystery.

Every file arrives knowing where it came from and who sent it. Finder shows you the name, the date and the size, and throws the rest away. Downloads Inbox gives it back.

18 files came from Marina Alves over SharePoint. 15 were never opened after the download.

They all arrived between July 15 and 22. Looks like one batch.

What is sitting there right now

The problem is not what piled up.

In a real folder measured in August 2026, nothing was older than 35 days. It was not old junk. It was 30 files that arrived, got used once, and lost every trace of where they came from.

Want your own numbers before installing anything? There is a read-only script you can run in Terminal that prints the same report. It moves nothing, renames nothing and deletes nothing.

How it works

Three signals. No rules.

All of it comes from information macOS already stores with every download.

Where it came from

Every downloaded file keeps the address it came from. That is where the sender's name and the grouping come from.

Whether you opened it

The system records the last time it was opened. If that matches the download date, the file arrived and was never touched again.

Built to stay local

Nothing leaves your machine.

This app reads one of the most sensitive folders on your computer. That is exactly why it never talks to the internet, and why you can check that yourself.

No server

There is no sign-up, no account and nothing being sent anywhere. The network permission is not even declared in the app.

Downloads folder only

No full disk access. To file something into another folder, macOS asks for your permission once, and you pick which folder.

Always reversible

The app does not delete files. It moves them to the Trash, with a confirmation, and undo stays available afterwards.

Questions

What people usually ask.

Why not just use Hazel?

Hazel is excellent and does far more. It also expects you to write the rules, and writing rules is the exact chore nobody wants. Here the suggestions come from what is already recorded in the files, and you either approve them or throw them out.

Does the app delete my files?

No. It moves them to the Trash, always with a confirmation, and undo stays available afterwards. By default the app only suggests: nothing happens until you say so.

What if two files have the same name?

The app says they look related and asks you to check. It only claims they are identical after actually comparing the contents. That caution came from a real case: two folders with the same 304 filenames and 3.3 GB of different photos inside.

Does it work offline?

Always. There is no online mode, so there is nothing to go down.

Does it use AI to read my files?

No. Everything comes from information macOS already stores alongside each download. No content is read, processed or sent anywhere.
